I ran away from my home in Virginia in 2010 to study in Philadelphia at Studio Incamminati, leaving my husband in charge of our two high-school aged daughters. Everyone survived.

I have always been an artist, but I have also been and done other things. I was raised by a lawyer and a scientist who encouraged me to be curious and ask questions so I have a lot of interests. For 17 years I was a law student, lawyer, and federal prosecutor, finally specializing in trying child-abuse and sex offense cases and arguing criminal appeals.

My father gets credit for igniting my interest in art. He traveled internationally for work and, to spare my mother, sometimes took me along. He took me to art museums and his excitement was contagious. I remember the almost hallucinatory impact Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum had on me. I drew and painted throughout secondary school and had enough college credits in art that I might have qualified for a major.

Studio Incamminati (SI) came to my attention when artist friends took summer workshops shortly after SI opened its doors and returned dramatically more skilled. Long story short, I graduated from the fine art program at SI in 2015 and became a fellow and eventually an instructor.
